Former Central Bucks South Rivals Join for a Dramatic Win
Danny Gies and Owen Pinkerton, two former Central Bucks South rivals, were once vying for the starting quarterback position on tthe junior varsity squad, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Last week, the duo joined forces for a dramatic, game-winning touchdown against visiting rival Central Bucks West that secured their team the coveted Central Bucks Cup.
“It’s almost like I couldn’t believe it,” said Pinkerton, a senior quarterback. “There’s no words to really describe it. It’s just kind of unbelievable.”
With just seconds remaining in the game and trailing by one, the undefeated Titans were 39 yards from the end zone. After calling a timeout, the team decided to aim for a miracle play. Pinkerton stepped up in the pocket and launched a pass to Gies.
“I didn’t care if all 22 people were in the end zone,” said Gies, a senior receiver. “I just knew I was coming down with that ball.”
There was a brief moment of doubt while he was battling with a defender for the ball, but in the end, he made the catch, securing the team a dramatic victory.
