Warm weather greeted over 170 cars and trucks that rolled into Newtown for this year’s Antique and Classic Car Show on Sunday, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The show, staged by the Newtown Business Association, took place along State Street between Centre Avenue and Jefferson Street.

Thousands of people attended the show, which showcased a century’s worth of automotive history. The participating vehicles included a combination of classic antique cars, trucks, and specialty vehicles.

The coveted St. Mary Medical Best of Show Award was given to the 1957 Golden Hawk Studebaker, owned by Jerry Rakes of Churchville.

“This car is unbelievable,” said Dan Petty, who announced the winners. “It’s in amazing shape. We could barely find anything wrong with this car from top to bottom.”

A 1972 Porsche 911, owned by Victor Morgado of Lansdale, received the Mayor’s Trophy.

Meanwhile, the final top award went to a 1940 Lincoln Continental, which was recognized with the Best in Show Emeritus Award.

The owner of the Lincoln Continental known as “Rhapsody in Blue” is local car collector and philanthropist Gene Epstein.
