The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works Museum in Doylestown, continues to preserve Bucks County’s rich artistic history while inspiring future generations, writes Nikki DiMentri for CBS News Philadelphia.  

Founded by Henry Mercer, the museum still operates as it did over a century ago, meticulously crafting tiles using more than 6,000 of Mercer’s original designs. 

Visitors can witness artisans like James Mowery at work, painstakingly assembling mosaics such as the Washington’s Crossing piece, which takes weeks to complete. 

 The museum offers tours and hands-on classes, allowing guests to experience the timeless craft firsthand. 

Executive Director Katia McGuirk highlights the museum’s commitment to preserving stories through ceramic art.  

Each tile, crafted from locally sourced clay, serves as a tangible piece of Bucks County’s heritage. 

The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works Museum stands as a national historic landmark, where history and art come alive, inviting visitors to take home a piece of the past.
