The Penn Health System and Doylestown Health have officially signed a definitive merger agreement, bringing the Bucks County health system.

The University of Pennsylvania Health System and Doylestown Health have officially signed a definitive merger agreement, bringing the Bucks County health system under the Penn Medicine umbrella, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

This merger, initially outlined in January, is pending federal and state regulatory approvals.

Doylestown Health, which includes the 247-bed Doylestown Hospital, successfully met financial benchmarks set as a condition for the merger.

The health system reduced its fiscal 2023 losses from $15.2 million to approximately $5.9 million, surpassing its goal.

Doylestown Hospital will become the seventh hospital in Penn Medicine’s network, joining prominent facilities like the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia

The integration is expected to be completed by early 2025, with plans to enhance services across hospitals, outpatient centers, homes, and telemedicine.

This merger marks Penn Medicine’s continued expansion in Bucks County, complementing existing collaborations with local health providers.
