Bucks County Emerges as Key Battleground in High-Stakes 2024 Election
Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is once again at the center of national political attention as the 2024 presidential election between Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris approaches, writes Steve Bonel for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The county is nearly equally split between Republican and Democratic voters.
Langhorne resident Hannah Reed, a 30-year-old independent voter who supported both Donald Trump in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, remains undecided as the election nears. “There’s a lot more access to information in a swing state, which is helping me make an informed decision,” she remarked.
Bucks County has not voted for a Republican president since 1988, yet recent elections have been decided by narrow margins. This razor-thin margin between the two major parties is only .01 percent .
Local political leaders from both parties acknowledge the county’s strategic importance. “It’s the policies, not personalities, that will drive the selection,” said Patricia K. Poprik, chair of the county’s Republican Committee.
As the election draws closer, Bucks County’s voters will play a pivotal role in determining the outcome in Pennsylvania.
