For 80 years, the Willow Grove Amusement Park delighted residents and was a beloved destination for families and thrill-seekers, reports Trending Stories.
The park site in the town of Willow Grove, now occupied by the Willow Grove Mall, opened in 1896 and stayed around until it closed permanently in 1975.
There was no entry fee for the park with patrons purchasing ride tickets instead.
The Wild Mouse roller coaster, the Thunderbolt and the Merry-Go-Round, with its ornate design and whimsical horses, were standout attractions.
The Tunnel of Love provided a romantic experience, capturing the the Victorian charm of the park.
Visitors could also simulate the twists and turns of an alpine adventure experience with the Alps ride.
For younger guests, rides like the Rocket Ship took them on a futuristic journey through space.
Willow Grove was unique among amusement parks of the time with its combination of old-world charm and futuristic excitement.
Lifelong memories were made at Willow Grove, with families gathering for picnics and reunions.
Guests were also treated to special events and concerts, including those by Frederick N. Innes’ Famous Fifty, who performed there twice daily for $2,000 a week.
