Residents of Bucks County were in for a surprise Friday when a wandering emu was spotted strutting its stuff at Stoopville Road and Rosefield Drive in Newtown Township, write Hannah Nguyen and Earl Hopkins for The Philadelphia Inquirer.  

 This feathered visitor seemed less than thrilled with the recent fireworks display and decided to go on an adventure. 

Concerned citizens quickly called Newtown Township police, reporting the unexpected guest. The emu, apparently in no rush, meandered into the woods before authorities could intervene.

However, the police were eventually able to capture the flightless Australian native and return it to its rightful home on a nearby farm. 

The heartwarming reunion was shared by the police on Facebook, who posted, “The Emu has been reunited with its owner. Thank you for all the shares and assistance throughout the day!” 

As for how this big bird ended up on a solo escapade, the mystery remains. 

Regardless of its motives, the emu’s brief tour gave locals something to squawk about.
