Though the Villanova Wildcats men’s basketball team struggled last season, head coach Kyle Neptune is keeping a positive outlook, excited about the potential of this season’s roster, writes Jeff Neiburg for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Neptune had to turn a deaf ear to occasional boos coming from the stands as the Villanova Wildcats struggled during his second year as head coach.
Frustration peaked March 20 when Villanova was knocked from the National Invitation Tournament.
For his part, Neptune, dismisses the negativity.
“To go back and live in those emotions does nothing for me or our program,” he said.
That doesn’t mean he wasn’t disappointed, especially since Villanova expectations of competing for Big East championships runs so high.
“Me being the head coach here, me understanding that, being part of this place for so long, it just motivated me and it’s motivating our staff to go out and rectify it.”
Neptune’s hopeful a better upcoming roster will be the fix.
“There’s no one that’s more frustrated about how last season went than me. No matter what, there’s no one on earth more invested in this place being what it should be than Kyle Neptune.”
