The rise of indoor pickleball centers across the Bucks County and Montgomery County region is accelerating in 2024, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Joel Block, a former party center owner, is launching Buxmont Pickleball Club in Horsham

Located on Easton Road, this five-court facility is being built from the ground up, with Block investing over $200,000 and collaborating with a local developer.

Block, once an avid tennis player, turned to pickleball after discovering the sport’s strategic appeal.

He aims to create a community-focused club with amenities like a pizza oven and sports simulators.

In Newtown Township, a group of five partners is opening Pennsylvania’s first Picklr pickleball center in a converted Bed Bath & Beyond.

This 11-court, 31,000-square-foot facility is slated to open in December.

The Picklr franchise, backed by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees, offers a membership model with a monthly fee of $129 to $139, covering court time, leagues, and social events. The center will include a pro shop, showers, and locker rooms.

Both projects have received preliminary support but await final local government approvals.
