Solebury couple George and Ellen Anthonisen have built a formidable legacy in the art world writes Tamala Edwards for 6 ABC Philadelphia.

George’s early sculptures, often depicting his family, highlight his exceptional visual memory.

George, a sculptor, attended the University of Vermont, followed by rigorous training at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in New York City.

It was there, in 1965, that he met Ellen, who describes him as “the most interesting man I’ve ever met.”

The couple married in 1966 and relocated to Bucks County where George established his art studio.

Ellen manages the business side of his art career. “I do production of art, Ellen does the marketing and the archives,” George says.

Currently, George’s work is showcased at the Michener Art Museum in an exhibition titled “Meditations on the Human Condition,” which marks his 65-year career. Despite his long tenure, George remains fervently engaged in creating new works.

Ellen’s unwavering support has been pivotal. “We have allowed each other to grow and to develop our strengths,” she reflects.
