Sports Radio Icon John Kincade Urges Fans to Support Cancer Research After Third Victory
After beating cancer for the third time, Bala Cynwyd sports radio icon John Kincade of 97.5 The Fanatic is encouraging his fans to support cancer research, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6 ABC.
Less than two years after recovering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the Kincade and Salciunas show host was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The devastating disease only had Kincade working part-time. He wasn’t sure how much time he had left, so he decided to pursue his dreams as a sports show host.
“Little did I know that cancer would let me live another 26 years, and then it would come back knocking at my door,” said Kincade.
Last year Kincade was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer. He said that the most recent battle was the toughest because of his age.
While surgery removed the cancer from his body, it entered his lymphatic system and required concurrent chemotherapy treatments.
Kincade is officially six months free of cancer. Throughout his broadcasting career, the host has been fundraising for cancer research through the John Kincade Scholarship Fund.
“At least I know that I got the fight in me, I ain’t going down without a fight” he said.
