Bucks County Opportunity Council Saves Community $1.7 Million with VITA Program

The Bucks County Opportunity Council celebrated a milestone with its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program this tax season.

The Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC), a dedicated non-profit aimed at reducing poverty, celebrated a milestone with its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program this tax season, according to The Reporter

This year, BCOC’s VITA program achieved a record-breaking impact, completing 1,433 tax returns, and saving clients over $500,000 in tax preparer fees, bringing over $1.7 million back to the Bucks County community. 

The VITA program, operating for over 50 years, offers free tax help to low-income individuals, with each center managed by 44 dedicated IRS-certified volunteers.  

BCOC, the leading anti-poverty organization in Bucks County, also offers programs in housing, food, weatherization, and economic self-sufficiency, aiming to end poverty by connecting people with essential resources.
