An empty, sign-less store front is all that's left of the 88-year-old Rilling's Bakery.

After 88 years of operation, Rilling’s Bakery at the Davisville Shopping Center in Warminster closed its doors for good earlier this month, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

The owners said it was time to retire and pursue other interests.

“Today we closed another chapter,” the bakery wrote in a Facebook post. “It’s bittersweet, rewarding, sad, and exciting all at the same time. Thank you for all the years.”

Four generations of the same family worked at the location for more than four decades.

During its tenure Rilling’s Baker had built up quite a fan following and stellar reputation. It was also ranked as one of the top bakeries in Bucks County by Eater Philadelphia last December.

“Seasonal breads, pies, cakes, and cookies along with sweet breakfast treats of Danish and doughnuts make this suburban bakery one to visit,” wrote Eater Philadelphia at the time.

The owners said that they had not made the decision to close the bakery lightly, but that it was now time for them to begin a new chapter.
