A longtime staple of New Hope food culture is closing its doors this fall, leaving its riverside building open to new businesses.

For locals and visitors to the popular riverside town, it was always known that there was a little hidden gem down an alleyway on South Main Street. C’est La Vie French Bakery & Cafe, located at 20 South Main Street, has been a fun and delicious excursion for those looking for authentic baked goods and drinks.

Now, after almost three decades of incredible food with a view of the Delaware River, the French eatery is saying goodbye to its loyal fanbase.

“C’est La Vie and the Vitart family want you to know. ‘C’est le temp!'” the bakery said online. “We have had a wonderful 26 year run here in New Hope but ‘it is time’ to close up shop.”

The bakery’s last day of business will be on Oct. 29. Now that the longtime bakery is leaving, this will leave their waterfront property open for new businesses.

“To all our customers, friends, family and staff who have supported us through the years, we truly appreciate your loyalty and friendship. We will miss you!”
