Bucks County Dominates PIAA District One Playoffs: Central Bucks East, Pennsbury, and More Qualify
The PIAA District One playoffs started this week, with plenty of Bucks County area teams finding their place among the qualifiers, Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Quakertown and Neshaminy are the year’s first and second 6A seeds, respectively. Central Bucks East also made the top eight at No. 7 and is getting a first-round bye.
Other teams that qualified include Pennsbury (11), North Penn (14), Souderton (17), Pennridge (18), Council Rock South (23), and Council Rock North (24). The first two hosted their first-round games on Monday, while the rest are opening on the road.
Quakertown, which is a Suburban One League Liberty Division champion, and East, a SOL Colonial victor, have never qualified for states. This year, Quakertown won its first league title since 2018, and CB East’s most recent win had been eleven years ago.
The top six teams from the playoffs will move to states in Class 6A.
Meanwhile, Holy Ghost Prep is seeded second in Class 4A. The team won 4A districts in 2022 and has made it to the state title game.
