‘LiteBrite’ Wall Transforms New Hope-Solebury Elementary Hallway

New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School broke new ground with the installation of a custom-built LiteBrite wall.

New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School broke new ground with the installation of a custom-built LiteBrite wall that has transformed its hallway into a dynamic, interactive learning environment, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The new addition is designed to engage K-2 students in sensory exploration, creativity, and academic learning.

Lower Elementary Principal Dr. Jennifer Bloom and her team partnered with a committee of teachers to create a safe space for sensory exploration that would serve to remove the stigma associated with needing moments of regulation.

New Hope-Solebury high school students helped turn the important project into a reality. Under the guidance of STEAM instructors Richard Curtis and Craig Balmer, they designed and fabricated the wall using discarded electronics and LED panels. This made it possible to create a wall valued at $8,000 for only $1,500.

“This project was the exact type of collaboration I had in mind when we were designing the STEAM Lab,” said Curtis. “I want these students to think big, bold, and push into heights that leave people dumbfounded, knowing we were able to bring someone’s dream to life at such a large scale.”
