Cash tolls are slated to be eliminated on the Route 202 bridge over the Delaware River between Lambertville and New Hope starting June 17, writes Mike Deak for My Central Jersey.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) announced that June 16 will be the last day for cash transactions on this bridge.

From June 17 onward, drivers will need to pay via E-ZPass or Toll by Plate. Tolls are only charged for traffic crossing into Pennsylvania

The toll booths will no longer have attendants, and only a limited number of toll lanes may be open.

Any open lane will handle both E-ZPass and Toll by Plate transactions.

For E-ZPass users, the toll is $1.50. For those using Toll by Plate the charge is $3 due to higher billing and processing costs.

The Toll by Plate system records a car’s license plate number and sends a bill to the registered owner.

Meanwhile, higher-volume bridges like Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) and I-78 will continue to accept cash until they transition to cashless tolling by January 2025.
