How Newtown’s Alex Cooper Built a Media Empire Beyond ‘Call Her Daddy’
From Newtown, Bucks County, to the forefront of America’s media landscape, “Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper is redefining what it means to be a media mogul in the 21st century, writes Jessica Testa for The New York Times.
Best known for her groundbreaking podcast which debuted in 2018, Cooper has shifted from risqué entertainment to more sincere, confessional dialogues, gaining a massive following for her candid discussions on relationships, and personal trauma.
What many may not know is that behind the scenes, Cooper, alongside her fiancé and film producer Matt Kaplan, has been quietly building a media empire.
In June, the duo announced the launch of Trending, a Gen Z-focused media venture that combines Kaplan’s Ace Entertainment and Cooper’s Unwell network.
Unwell, under Cooper’s guidance, has been cultivating a new generation of stars, beginning with the signing of TikTok sensation Alix Earle, known for her magnetic “Alix Earle effect” on trends and product sales.
With Unwell, she aims to create a platform that elevates new talents while maintaining her connection with her audience.
