Newtown native Alex Cooper became famous in her early 20s as the host of her podcast, Call Her Daddy, sharing explicit stories of her dating life, writes EJ Dickson for the Rolling Stone.

Thanks to her candor and charm, she has managed to build a multimillion-dollar brand and start her own network where she now manages to get some of the best celebrity scoops in the industry.

Her openness helped her get Hailey Bieber to talk about her relationship with Selena Gomez for the first time and Zayn Malik to finally say why exactly he left One Direction.

She treats her interviews as “very intense therapy sessions,” as she describes it, through which she leads traditionally guarded celebrities to open up and reveal the vulnerable slivers of themselves.

This has turned her into a Gen Z Barbara Walters and her $60 million Spotify deal for her podcast made her the brand’s highest-paid woman.

“In my conversations with my guests, you are always going to feel comfy-cozy,” she said. “That’s where my personal skills as a human come in. I can literally talk to an acorn outside. I can talk to anyone.”
