Lower Bucks County schools are set to receive a substantial boost in their efforts to combat student food insecurity, thanks to a generous contribution exceeding $90,000 from The GIANT Company, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

As part of the Feeding School Kids initiative, Giant and its patrons raised over $1.5 million nationwide to support hunger relief efforts across various public school districts.

Centennial School District led the charge in Lower Bucks County, with an award of $18,467.97.

From the beginning of January to the end of March, Giant store customers actively participated by rounding up their grocery bills or converting their CHOICE points into donations to fund local public school districts’ food programs, in addition to a direct contribution of $100,000 from the Giant Company.

The initiative allowed public school districts to have implemented various measures to combat food insecurity, such as providing backpacks filled with food for weekends, clearing students’ lunch debts, establishing on-campus food pantries, and starting garden programs.
