In a season of highs and lows, Neshaminy High School’s Nate Townsend left an indelible mark on his basketball program, writes Owen McCue for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Townsend reached a milestone by scoring his 1,000th point in the opening round of the district boys’ basketball playoffs against Conestoga, despite the team’s season-ending 53-19 loss.

His achievement, recognized with an award from state senator Frank Farry, made him the sixth player in the program’s 74-year history to hit the mark.

Townsend, who will continue his basketball journey at Penn State-Harrisburg, has been a standout player, leading his team in scoring for two consecutive seasons.
