Dollar Tree has announced a significant downsizing plan, revealing its intention to close nearly 1,000 stores in the coming years, according to Levittown Now.

This decision follows a report of lower-than-expected earnings for the last quarter. The company will shut down 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of this year and plans to close another 370 Family Dollar and 30 Dollar Tree locations subsequently.

Specific stores targeted for closure have not been disclosed yet.

The Levittown area, hosting six Dollar Trees and three Family Dollars across several townships, watches closely as these changes unfold.

Notably, a Family Dollar store recently opened beside a Dollar Tree in Levittown.

This restructuring comes years after Dollar Tree’s ambitious acquisition of Family Dollar in 2015 for over $8 billion.
