Several Bucks County canal projects are officially in progress at Delaware Canal State Park thanks to a $9 million investment, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The six major projects encompass infrastructure improvement and repairs, including critical responses to damages from a major rain event in July 2023.

The projects span across New Hope, Solebury, and Washington Crossing (Upper Makefield) townships.

Specific enhancement includes a towpath bypass overhaul and a wing wall rebuild in New Hope, a bridge scour repair and wastegate concrete repairs in Solebury, Washington Crossing’s library bridge replacement, and a full replacement of the Tebola Beans Bridge.

To facilitate construction, water from the canal stretching from New Hope to Washington Crossing has been drained.

As a substitute, the state is exploring options to reintroduce water into sections of the canal located south of Washington Crossing.

Completion dates for the several projects vary.
