This was determined through a national analysis, in partnership with the Wealth Enhancement Group which used data from Harvard University’s Social Capital Atlas.
The research aims to address shortcomings in a previous study that overlooked economic connectedness as a factor.
The study utilized a dataset that maintains user privacy, sourced from public Facebook friendships as reported by Meta.
This approach allowed researchers to measure the degree of interaction between individuals from different income levels within various locales over the past decade or more.
The ability to build friendships across economic backgrounds is one of the strongest factors in determining the possibility of upward mobility.
