Bristol real estate manager Bernard Mazzocchi is renovating a boutique hotel to turn the borough into a tourist hot spot, writes Peg Quann for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The 1700s-era historic old brick mansion on Radcliffe Street is transforming into a nine-unit hotel while retaining the waterfront ambiance.

The hotel will be within walking distance of the Bristol Riverside Theater, Grundy Museum, and a selection of shops and bars.

The hotel’s building, formerly known as the Fidelity Savings & Loan building, used to be the home of the Spanish Ambassador to the U.S. in the 19th century. It was also the site of the first “proxy” wedding in the United States in 1817.

Mazzocchi, along with architect Roy Pope, his son Bernie, and son-in-law Mike Lafferty hope to finish the hotel’s construction by the end of 2024.

The building’s iconic staircase and original dental molding will be restored.
