Eagle Lane Johnson’s Work with Doylestown-Based Foundation Earns Him Award Nomination
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Lane Johnson received a nomination for NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award thanks to his work with the Doylestown-based Travis Manion Foundation, write Damon C. Williams and Martin Frank for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The foundation, which carries the name of the Marine who was killed in action in 2007, provides several programs for both veterans and the families of fallen soldiers. It also reaches out to Gold Star families to help them in their times of need, which is how it drew the attention and support of Johnson.
The veteran offensive tackle met with Gold Star families throughout the 2023 NFL season in the host city of every away game.
“Lane’s personal trainer himself is a former Marine, and working with Lane, he told him about the foundation,” said Ryan Manion, Travis’ sister who helps run the foundation.
“Him and Lane came together to connect with us and the foundation, and asked us to locate Gold Star families that he could meet with before away games.”
