Around 71,000 workers in Bucks County could benefit from a higher minimum wage, according to a report by the Keystone Research Center.

In June of 2023, Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives passed HB 1500 to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2026.

The center argues that this could benefit 21 percent of Bucks County workers, which includes 30 percent of people who are over the age of 40.

A significant percentage of the working demographic in Bucks County that could benefit from this policy include women, who make up 58 percent, and people of color, who make up 32 percent.

Thirty-eight percent have at least some college education, 27 percent are parents, and 44 percent of the demographic that could benefit are working full-time.

According to the report, six bordering states increased their minimum wage, allowing workers in New York, Maryland, and New Jersey to earn $3,000 more per year than their Pennsylvania counterparts.
