Local nonprofits are inviting the community to dress warmly and raise money for the homeless on "the Coldest Night of the Year” in Doylestown.

Four local nonprofits are inviting the community to dress warmly and raise money for the homeless on “the Coldest Night of the Year” in Doylestown, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The winter fundraising walk will take place on February 24 in support of programs and services offered by YWCA Bucks County, Bucks County Opportunity Council, Bucks County Housing Group, and Family Service Association of Bucks County.

The family-friendly Coldest Night Of the Year walk will start at Bucks County Justice Center, where participants will register and submit the results of their fundraising activities.

The walk that originated in Canada is taking place in the U.S. for the third time and the second time in Bucks County.

Organizers noted that by walking the 2K route together, participants will get a taste of what it is like to be homeless during the cold winter months.

Those who raise over $150 – or half that for youth – will get iconic beanies to wear while they face the cold.
