Five Bristol fire companies have agreed to be consolidated into a single entity that will operate out of one station in Bristol Borough, writes Tom Sofield for Levittown Now.

Steve Reeves, the president of the Bristol Borough Fire Association that represents Bristol Fire Company, America Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Goodwill Hose Company, and Bristol Consolidated Volunteer Fire Company, said during a recent Bristol Borough Council meeting that all those involved are excited about moving forward in partnership with the borough.

Since the fire association was established two years ago, the fire companies in the borough have formed “strong partnerships” both among each other and with the community, said Reeves.

In January, the council approved an application for a state grant to help fund the construction of a centralized fire station. The location for the new station has not been selected yet.

In expectation of a future fusion, the fire companies have already begun working together operationally, in training, and in community engagement efforts.

“Our next step is to find a new home and one spot,” said Reeves.
