As Wegmans is set to open its second Bucks County location, the grocery chain is also cutting a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Wegmans Food Markets is set to open its second Bucks County store in Yardley on March 20, writes Marian Zboraj for the Progressive Grocer.

The Yardley store continues the company’s trend of opening smaller-format stores. The East Coast grocer previously opened locations that were as large as 150,000 square feet, but in 2021, the retailer started going smaller. Its new stores have been mostly closer to 100,000 square feet in size.

The 88,000-square-foot supermarket will be located at 925 Vansant Drive within the Prickett Preserve development.

The new location will feature all of the Wegmans’ traditional departments, including restaurant foods, a produce department with a huge selection of different fruits and vegetables, and a plethora of seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese options.

The store will also feature around 1,200 wines and approximately 500 varieties of beers and hard ciders.

Wegmans is currently hiring part-time positions and select full-time positions for its newest store. When completed the location will employ around 400 people.

The company continued to shrink its stores in 2022, to between 80,000 and 90,000 square feet.
