Bristol-based startup Sojo Industries was one of ten companies in the region that made the PHL Inno’s 2024 Startups to Watch list in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Founded in 2021 by Barak Bar-Cohen and Steve Rubin, the manufacturing company focuses on the packaging of variety pack beverages through robotics in low-tech warehouses, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The process of obtaining flavors from all around the country can be time-consuming and expensive. The robotics system automates the packaging process to ensure that it runs smoother.

The company reported a $4 million revenue for its first full fiscal year in 2021. Sojo Industries initially garnered $4 million in seed funding in 2021, subsequently raising $6.2 million in 2022, and later, an extra $2.8 million in September of the same year.

The founders are no strangers to the industry, as Bar-Cohen was the former Chief Operative Officer of the brand Bai, and Rubin is the former CEO of Horizon Lines and ITS ConGlobal, a container shipping giant.
