Julian Phillips Continues Family Legacy of Basketball Excellence at Central Bucks West
Julian Phillips, Central Bucks West wing and leading scorer is continuing the family legacy of basketball excellence at the school started by his father, Thomas Phillips, who is now training him, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The elder Phillips averaged 24 points per game on the CB West 1988-89 basketball team as its lead scorer. He earned all-state honors from head coach Wayne Finkbeiner, who called him “the best outside shooter I’ve had since I’ve been coaching.”
And now his son is continuing the tradition.
“It’s amazing to see,” said Julian Phillips. “He’s really proud of me and we’re going to continue to work and keep getting better.”
The young athlete has been watching some of his father’s games online and found some similarities in way the two play.
“We’ve been able to compare our games because he’s a shooter and I’ve been known as a shooter,” he said. “He knows a lot of stuff about the game. He’s able to teach me things. He helped me get better and continue to grow as a player and as a person.”
