Centennial Education Foundation Receives Generous $40K Boost from Warminster Businesses
More than $40,000 in donations were given by local businesses to the Centennial Education Foundation in Warminster through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.
“These generous donations go a long way towards supporting our mission”, said Carolyn Fisher, foundation vice president and board member. “We can help so many students in our district with educational experiences that school tax dollars don’t cover.”
The funds support grants that the Centennial School District teachers apply for and then help the foundation to improve local unique learning programs.
For example, the seventh grade at Klinger Middle School organized a Cookie War competition in December. Students teams competed against each other in a collaboration between the STEM and Family Consumer Science classes. Students designed both their cookie cutters and displays, baked their sweets, and then presented them to judges.
“Raising funds for the Foundation can be very challenging,” said Jennifer Schultz, the foundation’s executive director. “Every dollar counts and, in many instances, goes a long way to creating programs that the community may not be aware exist.”
