Newtown Borough’s long-awaited Steeple View Project is awaiting final approval for the construction of a multi-use residence area.

Newtown Borough’s ambitious Steeple View Project finally got the green light, writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.

This mixed-use development will be Newtown’s largest project in history.

The plan, which calls for the revitalization of nine acres extended from Centre Avenue to South State Street will create a mixed-use neighborhood, bringing 88 new apartments and 12,000 square feet of retail space.

The project proposes several public amenities, including a trail along Newtown Creek, a reconstructed barn on the former Stockburger property, and a public piazza.

A pedestrian bridge linking the borough to Carl Sedia Park has been deferred to the project’s later stages, and the developers will be seeking the bridge’s approval to move forward with the project.
