Pennsbury High School will pioneer the new pilot program that provides free period products for students in the school bathrooms, writes Peg Quann for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Sanitary products, including pads and tampons, will be available in the girls’ and gender-neutral restrooms. The idea came after the father of a middle school student raised the issue to one of the Pennsbury School board members.

The school board is still working out details, and a set launch date has not been announced.

Other Bucks County schools have had similar programs, including Bensalem School District’s student-led Blue Crew.

In 2021 the committee got a grant from the Bill Gates Foundation to supply period products in the student restrooms.

The Blue Crew is still trying to continue this cause by collecting donations through the “Someone Cares Campaign.”
