Manoff Market Gardens & Cidery in Solebury recently welcomed Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and state Rep. Tim Brennan, in Bucks County to promote the PA Preferred program, writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.

This provides farmers and agribusinesses throughout the state with a brand identity for their products.

A family farming operation, Manoff Market Gardens connects people with locally grown food and products in Solebury Township.

Amy and Gary Manoff started farming at their current location in 1984, with a focus on growing fruit.

Solebury Township Land Preservation Program gave the family the means to continue farming by assisting them in buying the protected Heritage Conservancy land two years ago.

“The PA Preferred designation is significant because it assures customers the farm’s products are locally grown and processed,” said Brennan, “It encourages consumers to support local farms, which helps the farmers’ families and their surrounding communities as well.”

Brennan recently sponsored a bill intended to create an Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Fund.

The fund would help the state and counties “work with nonprofit entities to purchase agricultural conservation easements,” he added.
