Central Bucks School District Ushers in New Era as Democrats Gain School Board Majority

Newly re-elected Karen Smith has assumed the role of as the president of the board.

Central Bucks School District is seeing a change in leadership, with the swearing-in of a new school board, president, and vice president, reports Ellen Kolodziej for Fox 29.  

In November, the school board saw a flip in majority after Democrats swept the race.  

Previously, Republicans held most of the seats.  

On Dec. 4, Dana Foley, Heather Reynolds, Rick Haring, and Susan Gibson were inducted onto the board. Meanwhile, Karen Smith was re-elected and appointed as the Board President. 

Existing board members who successfully retained their positions include Democrat Dr. Mariam Mahmud, who was appointed vice president, alongside Republicans Debra Cannon, James Pepper, and Lisa Sciscio.
