Bristol resident and Boots on the Ground Founder Carla Reynolds helps the families in need through her initiative.

Bristol resident Carla Reynolds has been a community activist since she was 18 years old, writes Damon C. Williams for the Bucks County Courier Times.

She and her mother, Betty Reynolds would purchase food from the supermarkets to donate to shelters and churches or let people from the neighborhood take what they needed of the groceries she stored in her car.

Following in her family legacy, Reynolds’ daughter, Tamara Monroe is the founder of the Monroe Foundation for Youth, which serves young people on the autism spectrum.

Carla continues her support for the homeless today with her organization Boots on the Ground Foundation, which distributes food, toiletries, and more to homeless or impoverished families.

On Thanksgiving, Reynolds and fellow activist Danyelle Eckert deliver Thanksgiving dinner to homeless encampments in the woods of Bucks County.

Reynolds emphasizes that Boots On the Ground is not an income-based organization.

“And let’s be honest: if a person has five kids — or if there’s a household with two parents working and a mortgage — you’re broke.

“We base our giving off the needs on paper, not what they make.”

Reynolds is currently collecting donations of canned food, dry goods, toiletries and clothing.
