Cosmopolitan: Newtown Native Alex Cooper, Host of ‘Call Her Daddy,’ Podcast Has Built a Media Empire
Newtown native Alex Cooper, the 29-year-old powerhouse behind the podcast “Call Her Daddy,” has seamlessly melded festivities with serious business, writes Jessica Giles for Cosmopolitan.
Cooper, whose lifestyle includes NYC movie premier parties open to her Instagram following and luxurious trips to the South of France, has shown that for her, play is not just a part of the game; it’s a strategic move.
Since signing a groundbreaking $60 million deal with Spotify, Cooper’s trajectory has been meteoric. She has claimed top spots on Spotify podcast charts across 46 markets, including the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Australia, and founded Trending, a media company housing her own podcast network, Unwell.
Cooper’s strategy extends beyond her own show; she’s now a mentor and producer for new talents like Alix Earle and Madeline Argy. “It’s been fun to put on the producing hat,” Cooper admits.
Amidst her burgeoning empire, Cooper has had to navigate public scrutiny, especially concerning her financial achievements.
“It’s just not normal to have the amount of money you’re making public,” she reflects on the attention surrounding her Spotify deal. However, she remains unbothered by the comparisons drawn with male podcasters, seeing her situation as a “new benchmark for women in the industry.”
