Local couple Hamid Golshani and Nadia Niknami were hoping to spend Thanksgiving with an American family, and many of their neighbors were more than happy to oblige and extend Thanksgiving invitations, writes Jenice Armstrong for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Golshani, a Drexel University alum who works for a medical device company in Exton, left a post on Nextdoor in which he asked if anyone knew how the couple could “celebrate Thanksgiving with an American family.”

He added that his intention is not to be “rude” by asking for an invite and that they are happy to pay their share.

Then the invites started pouring in. Over 100 people had liked his post as of Monday, and around half of them replied either offering advice or inviting them over.

The invitations ranged from couples whose families are too far away to join them, to those who had already invited international students as guests, and many more.

In the end, he accepted an invitation from a friend of a friend. The reason he asked in the first place?

“My friends say a lot of good things about this celebration,” said Golshani.
