The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization, has awarded Doylestown Hospital an “A” in the safety category, writes Ed Doyle for TAPinto Doylestown.

The group grades hospitals based on over 30 performance measures that include everything from errors and accidents to injuries and infections. Leapfrog also looks at the systems implemented by hospitals to prevent harm.

Around 30 percent of the nation’s hospitals received an A grade this year. Doylestown has been given the highest grade in safety every year since 2016.

Doylestown received its highest score from Leapfrog in the category for doctors, nurses, and hospital staff. It also got the highest marks in nursing and bedside care, special training for ICU doctors, and communication with doctors and nurses, as well as the responsiveness of its hospital staff.

Additionally, the hospital received the top rating for its practices to prevent errors.

Doylestown got a score that was a little higher than the national average in the category of infections and its score on several common infections such as MRSA and C. diff was close to the national average.
