Justin Moore, an Archbishop Wood High School graduate and basketball star, has settled in nicely with Drexel University’s Dragons – newcomers to the Big 5 – and is a key piece in the team’s plans for the new season, writes Kerith Gabriel for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The sophomore guard is coming off a year where he was chosen for the Coastal Athletic Association all-rookie team. He was the spark at the point for Dragons who finished 17-15 overall but with a 12-3 record at home.

Moore averaged 9.6 points but went as high as 21 points.

Moore was expected to take on a leading role in the team from the outset, as soon as he first arrived on campus.

“When I first came in, [the coaches] wanted me to be a leader from the jump, have a voice, and be vocal,” he said.

“I feel like I’ve been pretty consistent. As I’m going through the season, my confidence is growing. So just having [the team] have confidence in me and just going out there knowing that they have my back, it makes everything way easier.”
