American Community Journals Seeks Executive Editor to Lead Its Fast-Growing Editorial Team
American Community Journals (ACJ) — the parent company of VISTA Today, MONTCO Today, DELCO Today, BUCKSCO Today, and PHILADELPHIA Today — is riding a tidal wave of growth this year and is currently seeking an Executive Editor to lead its fast-growing editorial team.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all content published on ACJ’s five platforms adheres to the company’s specific style guidelines and that each post is optimized for maximal performance across each of the company’s distribution channels. He/she will determine the kinds of stories ACJ shares — in alignment with the company’s mission to publish positive, upbeat stories that celebrate each county — and look for new ways to engage readers.
The Executive Editor will manage the editorial team, including the hiring and mentoring of staff, and sometimes serve as the public face of ACJ, representing the company at community events.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- working knowledge of and professional experience with WordPress, SEO, Google’s Content Policies, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics 4
- demonstrated experience in a senior editorial role, preferably within a news environment
- strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a remote team
- exceptional judgment and decision-making abilities
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- the ability to innovate and adapt to the changing digital media landscape
- a track record of managing budgets and maximizing resources
- bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (master’s degree is preferred)
The Executive Editor will assume a leadership role within ACJ that offers the opportunity to influence and shape public discourse, as well as for opportunities for professional development and career growth. The company fosters a collaborative remote work environment where creativity and diversity are valued and will provide a competitive salary and benefits package.
This position is 100 percent remote. To apply, e-mail a resume and writing samples to Kim McGuane, President of American Community Journals, at kmcguane@acj.today.
