Startup Bucks is seeking a new executive director as co-founder, Jon Mercer has decided to step back from his role, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Founded in 2019, Startup Bucks has been a cornerstone for local startups, providing invaluable advice and resources.

Mercer’s tenure saw the inception of innovative programs like ‘Founder’s 30‘, a weekly online forum, and the ‘Bucks Built Startup Fund‘, designed to funnel capital to groups of ten startups.

Yet, Mercer believes it’s time for new leadership to usher in the organization’s next phase. “Let’s get the next regime in. I’m looking forward to seeing where they take it,” he said.

While he steps back to explore opportunities in Philadelphia, including startup consulting, he retains a position on the board as president emeritus.

Importantly, Mercer will have a say in choosing his successor, emphasizing the selection of a leader with a firm grasp of fundraising and partnership-building, specifically with entities like the Bucks County Industrial Development Authority and Penn Community Bank

With Det Ansinn who recently stepped into the president’s role as of October 1, the organization is in no rush to fill the executive director position.
