Historic Pearl S. Buck Estate in Perkasie to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Style Later This Month
Pearl S. Buck International, located at 520 Dublin Road in Perkasie, will be hosting Oktoberfest festivities at the author’s estate on Oct. 22 from 12- 4 PM.
The historic estate will have a wide variety of food, drink, and German goods for all in attendance.
“Bring all your friends and family for this fun-filled afternoon featuring beer, drinks and food for purchase, live German music, a ton of activities for the kiddos, tours of the Pearl S. Buck House museum, and more!” the nonprofit said online.
Pearl S. Buck was known for her 1931 novel, The Good Earth, which documented life in rural China. During her life, she was a large proponent of the adoption of Chinese-born children, making her one of the first Americans to advocate for mixed-race adoption.
“In 1938, Pearl Buck was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature for her epic portrayal of Chinese peasant life and for the biographies of her parents,” the organization’s website reads. “She was the first American woman to be awarded both the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes for literature.”
