A new playground is set to be opened to the public in Doylestown in mid-October, with its architecture modeled after a local castle.

The playground at Broad Commons Park in Doylestown Borough will be opened on Oct. 16 following its grand opening and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 PM.

“Stay tuned for a full schedule of kids activities, music, snacks, speeches, and more!” event organizers said online.

“We are so excited to share this special new playground with our community and local kids!”

The setup of the new playground was inspired by the nearby Fonthill Castle, the former home of Henry Chapman Mercer, which was built between 1908 and 1912. The castle now serves as a historical landmark that is operated by the Bucks County Historical Society.

In the past few weeks, public works crews have been paving the playground and adding a layer of safety surfacing, among other last minute touches to the area.
