Bensalem’s Parx Casino Continues to Dominate Gaming Industry Despite Remaining Smoke-Free

Despite deciding to remain smoke-free in the aftermath of the pandemic, Parx Casino in Bensalem continues to dominate retail play in Pennsylvania, writes Devin O’Connor for Casino.org.
The casino, which is owned and operated by Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, generated brick-and-mortar gross gaming revenue of approximately $50.1 million from its slots and table games in Aug. 2023. This was the highest gross gaming revenue among Pennsylvania’s 18 land-based casinos and nearly $5 million above the second placed Wind Creek Bethlehem that had $45.2 million.
Last year, Parx was the top land-based earner even without a designated smoking section and gross gaming revenue of about $598.6 million. That number beat Wind Creek by nearly $83 million.
Pennsylvania casinos have the right to designate a maximum of half of their gaming space for indoor smoking. However, there have been attempts by state officials to make all casinos smoke-free.
Rep. Dan Frankel recently introduced legislation that would end the indoor smoking loophole which is currently being used by the state’s commercial casinos.
