Penn State Abington Invites Public to Share Personal Stories to Help
Penn State Abington is putting out a call to members of the community to share their stories in “This Is My Brave,” a performance piece designed to reduce the stigma surrounding issues such as substance use, mental health, human trafficking, domestic violence and other challenges.
Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to audition by preparing a five-minute performance that demonstrates their personal experience through a monologue, poetry, song, dance or other artistic expression. Auditions will be reviewed by the organizing committee, and ten performers will be chosen.
During the fall, performers are required to participate in three rehearsals, one cast party, and a run-through before the show. The show will be staged for the public on the evening of Oct. 12 at Penn State Abington. Those who are selected to perform will receive a $250 honorarium at the conclusion of the event.
“This Is My Brave” is a nonprofit storytelling organization dedicated to breaking down stigma. Shows are performed across the United States and Australia.
