A 5-year-old girl from Montgomery County is bravely battling a rare type of kidney cancer that has spread rapidly, writes the staff at Fox 29 Philadelphia.

Margo Macchione was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Wilms tumor in May after doctors at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware found a mass in her stomach.

The doctors tried to perform surgery to remove the tumor, but it was too large and had already spread to Margo’s liver, abdominal wall, and diaphragm.

She has already undergone 12 weeks of chemotherapy and is expected to have more rounds ahead of her.

Her mother Sara said that Margo has shown such resiliency and courage through it all.

“I’m just so amazed at how resilient she has been, because she hasn’t complained once, and she’s so strong,” she said.

A cousin Chrissy Corazza is holding a fundraiser to help the family out on August 13 at Conshohocken Bocce Club and the family has started a GoFundMe. Read more about Margo at Fox 29 Philadelphia
