The donation will go on to help members of the community.

The Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund has provided a grant of $10,000 to the Wheelz2work Program operated by the Bucks County Opportunity Council, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

BCOC runs the program that helps low-income residents return to the workforce in partnership with Bucks County Community College and the Epstein Humanitarian Fund, along with support from Univest Financial.

Families that are enrolled in BCOC’s Economic Self-Sufficiency Program who are in need of safe and reliable private transportation for work or school are given vehicles that are donated to the council.

The funds provided by the latest grant will allow BCOC to cover the repairs and inspection of around ten cars to make sure they are safe and reliable for ES participants. Each vehicle that is donated averages around $900 in repairs and transfer fees.

“There is no better way to help someone on their way to economic independence than helping them get their own car,” said Gene Epstein. “Wheelz2Work changes lives for generations.”

The program is currently close to receiving its 100th car as a donation.
